About the Emily Taylor Center for Women & Gender Equity

Have you ever thought about the effect gender has on your life, your choices, and your success on campus? The Emily Taylor Center for Women & Gender Equity provides information, resources, and assistance on women's and gender-related issues for you to:

  • Get Informed! The first step to taking action and taking charge is educating yourself about the many ways gender affects you.
  • Get Involved! The next step is to apply your knowledge and connect with others by taking an active role in the community.
  • Get Empowered! Use your knowledge and involvement to find your voice, advocate for yourself and others, and make a difference in the world.

What are the Center's goals?

  • To contribute to the recruitment, retention and graduation of KU students by providing gender-focused services, resources and assistance that enhance success and challenge barriers;
  • To promote equity, opportunity and advocacy; to address issues affecting campus climate; and to provide resources for awareness, growth and empowerment;
  • To support women and men working together to challenge existing barriers and unequal treatment so all students may achieve their full potential.

Who can use the Center?

The ETWRC focuses on the needs of KU students of all genders. We also provide consultation, information and resources to staff, faculty, community members and individuals at the Edwards campus by request. Appointments are recommended, but not necessary. Services are private. ETWRC facilities are also accessible for individuals with disabilities.
