About the Awards
These awards were established to honor KU students, staff, faculty and alumnae who have advanced gender equity and contributed to the enrichment and improvement of the campus and community through their service, teaching, or involvement as mentors and role models. Specific awards and requirements are listed below. Recipients will receive a monetary award.
New This Year: Bernadette Gray-Little "Expanding the Reach" Award!
NEW! Bernadette Gray-Little "Expanding the Reach" Award - awarded to one faculty and one staff who contribute to campus recruitment and retention efforts through their work to promote gender equity and diversity.
OUTSTANDING INTERNATIONAL WOMAN STUDENT - woman-identified undergraduate or graduate student from a country other than the United States.
OUTSTANDING NONTRADITIONAL WOMAN STUDENT - woman-identified undergraduate who is three or more years older than their classmates, commutes 10 or more miles to campus, is married, is a parent of dependent children, and/or is a veteran.
OUTSTANDING WOMAN STUDENT IN LEADERSHIP - woman-identified undergraduate or graduate student who has demonstrated outstanding leadership to address a campus need.
GENDER EQUITY IN ACTION AWARD - an undergraduate or graduate student of any gender who has made significant contributions to gender equity on the KU campus (3.0 GPA strongly preferred)
ETHEL BOHNING SINGLE MOTHER AWARD – single mother who is a full-time undergraduate student and has completed 30 credit hours with a minimum GPA of 3.0.
SALLY MASON WOMAN STUDENT IN SCIENCE AWARD - undergraduate woman-identified student in the sciences (esp. biology) who has demonstrated academic excellence (3.0 GPA minimum), involvement in campus activities, and leadership in their academic department.
KATHLEEN MCCLUSKEY-FAWCETT WOMAN MENTORING WOMEN AWARD - woman- identified student, staff, or faculty who has demonstrated outstanding commitment to supporting and mentoring women at the University of Kansas.
MARLESA RONEY STUDENT SUCCESS MENTOR AWARD - woman-identified graduate or undergraduate student who has contributed to the success of another student.

A complete nomination includes:
- This 2-page nomination form
- A letter of support from someone other than the nominator that address the questions on the form below.
* We recommend that all materials be submitted together, but letters may be submitted separately, as long as they are in by the deadline.
* Your nominee may be qualified for several of the awards listed above, however, no person can be recognized through this process more than once per year. The selection committee determines, based on your recommendations, which award the person receives.
