Biography:

Kathy Barnard grew up in Kansas City with an inherent knack for design. She graduated from the University of Kansas in 1977 with a BFA in Graphic Design and Illustration. She started her eponymous glass company, Kathy Barnard Studio, in 1980 and specializes in stained, carved glass. Barnard’s intricate carved glass starts as a sketch and is carefully transferred to glass with hand-etching before getting sand-blasted into the glass. Her work has graced kitchens and venues across the country and can be seen locally at the Midland Theater. Barnard also lends her expertise to transform cabinets, doors, tables and back-splashes of kitchen spaces.

“I hope that people find something new every time they look at a piece of my art,” Barnard says. “If you can look at a window and feel alive, then I believe I have created art.”
